Gypsy Moth Caterpillar UPDATE

As posted earlier in the month, this was a horrific year for these little gypsy moth caterpillar beasts! The taped trunk solution worked quite well, but only if you are ahead of the hatchlings.

The good news from University of Connecticut is that the wet weather generated the long-awaited fungus that kills these critters.

Proof of the demise is shown in this photograph of my Japanese maple. Good riddance!
